A food industry analyst says the recommended amount of sugar for women (that has an energy necessity of 1800 calories per day) is less than 100 calories, or 6.25 teaspoons-from added suger. Additionally, a man with a requirement of 2200 calories for a day should intake no more than 120 calories or 9.4 teaspoons-from added sugar.

Since reducing the amount of sugar can reduce weight, trying to limit sugar consumption will be beneficial.
